mad-as-a-marine-biologist: Chromodoris dianae laying an egg ribbon. All but one species of Opisthobranch are fully functional hermaphrodites. Two members of the same species use chemoreception and tactile body contact (that’s one way of saying it) to recognise and “court” each other. They then line up their genitals and each penis enters the female duct and fertilises the other. They then seperate and lay seperate egg ribbons. In most cases, this is laid on or near their food source.
